Bengel & Engel Foundation

At Bengel & Engel we don’t only care about the children we are looking after in particular, but we care about all children between the ages of one and eleven, who are excited about the educational work Bengel & Engel is providing. Therefore, we founded the non-profit charity Bengel & Engel. The charity’s board of trustees is actively supported by energetic people, who draw on their competencies, experiences, contacts and most importantly on their conviction in doing the work for the charity.

We like to make use of the charity to introduce children and youth to some fundamental domains in life. We want to turn the children and youth into sensitive individuals and help them take action. We aspire that children and youth are able to find pleasure in taking action so that they are not prone to react passively. At the same time, being able to take action helps them to realise their interests and to actively pursue those.

The work of the charity is focused on three domains:
Together with professional musicians, children and youth from different institutions will be introduced to music. What is music, what is the sound, what impact has music on us? Which instruments are important and how are they combined to a whole? The children and youth have the opportunity to try out instruments and to explore the harmonies of the sounds. While doing so, the young participants work on developing a shared music project, which they will perform in front of an audience. In this way every child and every youth has the opportunity to experience what it means to work together as a team and that music can overcome boundaries, because it is not bound to language.
Being outside, experiencing nature, doing exercise. The Bengel & Engel charity is excited about the implementation of a public playground in the Steenwisch, which can be used by all children and youth. According to the motto “farm”, the playground will portray life on a farm. There will be wooden animals to horse back ride and touch, cosy sitting arrangements under trees, toys made out of natural materials and a lot more. Over the course of the seasons and the changes in the nature, this little gem will unfold its true charm.
Language is the key to success, in school, in further education and later on in the job. Through language we are able to obtain education and understand our environment. Therefore, it is important that children and youth not only learn the language from A to Z, but that they discover it for themselves. The Bengel & Engel charity plans to offer projects across institutions to help children and youth enhance their language and to engage with it in a playful manner.
